Castledawson Orange War Memorial Hall, County Londonderry.

 

The Orange War Memorial Hall is located beside the A54 at the northern end of the village. The hall is the white building with the blue door in the background. The tablet in the hall contains the names of 188 men and women who had served and 30 of whom had made the supreme sacrifice. The men whose names appeared on the tablet, if they were not all Ulster Division men they were all born in the district or had connection with it.

The obelisk in the foreground of the photograph was unveiled by World War One veteran Leslie Bell in 1994. On it are the names of those who have given their lives in two world wars and other conflicts. The inscription on it is:-

MEMBERS OF H.M. FORCES

FROM THIS DISTRICT

WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE

IN TWO WORLD WARS

AND SUBSEQUENT CONFLICTS.
